Judith Lee Tanner, 80, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Keystone Villa in Douglassville.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Herbert Sugarman and Arlene (Bennett) Weisman. Judith graduated from Cherry Lawn School in Darien, CT, Class of 1962, before attending the University of Denver. After moving to Pennsylvania, she resumed her education at Cabrini College in Radnor to study education. Judith worked as a manager for L.M. Gordon, Inc. for more than three decades, helping to build the company from the ground up, before her retirement in 2012.
Judith created happy and loving homes in Broomall, Springfield, Aston and Douglassville, PA, where so many delicious meals were shared (especially her favorite - shrimp scampi).
A remarkable woman, Judith was the epitome of love, strength, and selflessness—an extraordinary mother and grandmother whose legacy will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She raised her children with unwavering dedication, proving that love and resilience could triumph over any challenge. She instilled in them a profound lesson: that time and shared experiences far outweigh the value of money or material possessions. Her life was a testament to this belief, as she poured every ounce of herself into creating a warm, nurturing home filled with laughter and unforgettable memories. Judith had a hilariously sarcastic sense of humor.Even in the toughest times, her sense of humor shone through—a beacon of light that lifted spirits and reminded everyone around her to find joy amidst adversity.
Judith is survived by her children: sons Scott Tanner (Tina), of Irmo, SC and Christopher Tanner (Kristina) of Atlanta, GA, daughter Tara-Leigh Tarantola (Steven) of Douglassville; and her grandchildren: Austin Haines (Taylor), of Pottstown, Zachary Haines of Philadelphia, and Brycen Tanner of Lakewood, CO; great granddaughters, Lilith and Laney; sister, Beverlee Solby of Toronto, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.
According to her wishes, services for Judith will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by spending time with those you love—just as she would have wanted.
