Judith A. Shurr, 81, of Birdsboro, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, in the care of Reading Hospital. She was the widow of Gene P. Shurr, who passed away in 2012 after 50 years of marriage.
Born to the late Charles F. and Lucy E. (Ulrich) Schlaybach, Judith attended Reading High School.
Judith worked at the Reading Laundry and as an aide in the Exeter School District. She retired after more than 20 years with Boscov's.
She was a faithful member of Exeter Bible Church.
She never missed a NASCAR race, a passion she had shared with her husband. Known as the "cat whisperer," Judith adored cats, both her own and the neighborhood strays.
Judith's memory will be treasured by her daughter, Judi L. Perkins, widow of Steven Perkins, of Exeter, and grandchildren Matthew R. Perkins of Indianapolis, IN and Michael J. Perkins of Exeter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Lucy J. Mangrum, Alice L. Young, Ruth E. Williams, and Aprile L. Schaeffer, and brother, Frank C. Schlaybach.

A funeral service for Judith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 10:00 a.m. until the start of services. In memory of Judith, please wear your favorite NASCAR gear or bright colors.
