Judith A. Schmehl

Judith A. Schmehl, 65, Wyomissing, died of natural causes Nov. 13 at 10:35 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 18.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Herbert A. Schmehl, Exeter Township, and the late Dorothy E. (Buckley) Schmehl.

Schmehl had been employed for more than 25 years by AT&T Reading Works, later Lucent Technologies Inc., Muhlenberg Township, first as a secretary in the engineering department and lastly in the personnel department, until her retirement.

She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn.

Schmehl was a 1957 graduate of Ontelaunee High School and a graduate of the McCann School of Business, Reading, where she served as past secretary and social secretary for the Alpha Iota Sorority.

She was also former chairwoman of the Ways and Means committee at McCann.

Schmehl is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth H. Schmehl, Fleetwood, and Robert D. Schmehl, Wyomissing.

Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tuckerton. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to either the Animal Rescue League or the Humane Society.
