Judith Fankhanel

Judith Fankhanel, 92, passed away peacefully August 8, 2016 at the Highlands of Wyomissing.

She was the wife of the late Ralph Fankhanel, who died March 1, 1997.

Born in Upper Darby, Judy was the daughter of the late Thomas and Henerietta (Plasschaert) Jayes.

She was a graduate of Upper Darby High School.

Judy was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Sinking Spring. Before moving to Reading in 1996, she was an active member of the Church of Incarnation in Drexel Hill, PA and Christ Episcopal Church Parish, Kent Island, MD.

Judy enjoyed cooking for church events and spent many years with the Goofy Tuesday Group preparing and serving Meals on Wheels in Drexel Hill.

She is survived by her daughter, Pelagie J., wife of the late Hon. Thomas M. Golden, Wyomissing. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristin P. Golden Mancuso, Wyomissing and Matthew T. Golden, wife Olivia, Wyomissing; great-grandchildren, William C. Mancuso, Alexander J. Mancuso and Vivian K. Golden.

Judy loved the Eastern Shore, traveling, boating, fishing, gardening and cooking with friends and family. She will be remembered by her independence, strength, positive outlook and the twinkle in her eyes.

The family thanks with love the caring, competent and warm staff of Assisted Living at the Highlands, Optum Hospice Care and the Homecare Team of the Highlands.

A Service will be held on Monday, August 15 at 10 a.m. in St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Alban's Dr, Sinking Spring, PA. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the church.
