Joyce E. Dietrich

Joyce Eleanor (Parker) Dietrich, 88, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away October 5, 2009 in Phoebe Health Care Center, Wernersville.

She was the widow of Charles William Dietrich who died August 25, 1997.

Born January 6, 1921 in Pen Argyl, Northampton County, she was a daughter of the late George and Marjorie (Smith) Parker.

Joyce was a 1938 graduate of Pen Argyl High School.

She was employed as a secretary with Buffalo Knitting Mill, Pen Argyl from 1938-1959, and subsequently, moving to Reading, was employed in the same capacity with Traveler's Insurance Company for 25 years, retiring in 1983.

Joyce was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Reading.

She was also a member of The Friends of The Reading Hospital and Medical Center and Traveler's Retirees.

Surviving is a daughter, Katherine E. (Dietrich), wife of Robert W. Frutchey of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Ellen L. (Frutchey), wife of Dennis C. Hefter of Niwot, CO; Alison K. (Frutchey), wife of Stephen R. Zeller of Muhlenberg Township and Dr. Brian C. Frutchey of Longmont, CO.

There are also six great grandchildren: Alexandra L. Hefter, Andrew C. Hefter, Matthew C. Hefter, Robert R. Zeller, Abby K. Zeller and Kyle S. Zeller.

Joyce was predeceased by a brother, John G. Parker.

Services will be Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. in Wesley United Methodist Church, Front and Windsor Sts., Reading. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
