Josephine Sammataro

Josephine (Raimondo) Sammataro, 89, formerly of Sinking Spring, died October 8th at 7:40 pm in Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had been since May 29, 2001.

She was the widow of Carmelo Sammataro, who died October 1966.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, she was a daughter of the late Calogero and Annunziata (Morello) Raimondo.

Sammataro was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

She is survived by two sons, John of Wyomissing, and Calogero of Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include two sisters, Santina Raimondo and Sylvia Raimondo both of Knoxville, TN.

There are seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Damiano, who died March 2004.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Alban's Drive, Whitfield, Pa 19609. Viewing will be Tuesday 8:30 - 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
