Josephine "Jo" (Lees) Sunday Roche, 96, passed from this life October 13, 2010 in Manor Care Health Services, Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.

She was the widow of Raymond A. Roche, who died June 23, 1974.

Born in Washington, D.C., November 9, 1913, a daughter of Victor and Catherine (Hanson) Lees, she lived most her life in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area moving to Pennsylvania in 2006 at age 92.

Jo is survived by her sister, Margaret Cooley, Frederick, MD., daughter Joan (Sunday) Bradley of Spring Township, step-daughter, Carol (Roche) DeGeorge of Centerville, VA; sons, John (Jack) Sunday of Woodford, VA; E. Robert (Bob) Roche of Owings Mills, MD; Dennis Roche of Arlington, VA and Gary Roche of Huntingtown, MD and step-son Willard (Will) Roche of Odenton, MD. There are numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and even great great grandchildren to carry on her legacy.

Jo was the core of this large, loving, family teaching by example how to forgive, enjoy life and help others. She lived her life as a practicing Roman Catholic.

She was predeceased by sisters, Theresa Choate, and Edna Lees, brothers Victor Lees and Lawrence Lees, daughter Clara McDowell Matthews, sons Patrick Roche and Albert B. Sunday, Jr., as well as three grandsons.

A thank you to Mifflin Court Assisted Living, Shillington, Pa., where Jo resided from 2006 to 2008 and a special thank you to the entire staff at Manor Care Health Services, Sinking Spring, Pa. for the last several years of tender loving care and support. On several occasions Jo told her daughter, "I like it here" – a real tribute to this facility.

Jo's final resting place will be beside her husband, Ray, at Fort Lincoln Cemetery and Funeral Home, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD, 20722. Services will be held on Monday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m., in the Ft. Lincoln Chapel.
