Josephine E. Lubitz

Josephine E. Lubitz, 96, formerly of New Hyde Park, NY, died April 20, 2009 in her son's Wyomissing residence.

Her husband, Gerhard K. Lubitz, died December 27, 1995. They were married on March 31, 1935.

Born in Ridgewood, NY, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Josefa (Putre) Slanovec.

She was a comptometer operator for the former A & P Grocery Store for 20 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Lubitz is survived by two sons, Gerard C., husband of Carol Lubitz, Wyomissing and Edward J., husband of Kyle H. Lubitz, Cohasset, MA; Nephew, Fredrick H., husband of Margaret Slanovec, whom she and her husband raised, and three siblings, Emma Schroeder, Newton CT, Mildred Cucco, Ft. Meyers, FL and Edward Slanover, Hicksville, NY. Nine grandchildren; Carlene Lubitz, Sheryl (Javier) Barreto, Brenda (Dennis) Wilczek, Clifford (Nicole) Lubitz, Brian (Lois) Lubitz, Steven Lubitz, Gerhard "Gerht" (Jessie) Lubitz, Stephanie (Ray) Suprenard, John "Ted" Lubitz, eight great-grandchildren; Tyler Barreto, Ryann Barreto, Ella Jo Lubitz, Owen Wilczek, Jailyn Lubitz, Aaron Wilczek, Annie Lubitz and Alling Lubitz also survive her along with other numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Slanovec and Frederick Slanovec and three sisters, Freda Bencin, Helen Newell, and Marion "Dolly" Ludwig.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Dalton Funeral Home, 125 Hillside Ave, New Hyde Park, NY. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in Dalton Funeral Home.
