Josephine Ann Gulko

Josephine Ann (Wojciechowski) Gulko, 90, of Sinking Spring, died December 31, 2008 at 1:00 am in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

She was the widow of Frank Leo Gulko, Sr., who died January 5, 1999.

Born March 6, 1918 in Cumbola, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Cecelia (Banas) Wojciechowski.

She was employed a number of years with various garment factories in Schuylkill County, retiring in 1980.

Josephine was a member of St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church, Cumru Township.

She is survived by two children: Frank L. Gulko, Jr., husband of Sandra L. (Austin) Gulko of Sinking Spring and Joanne M. (Gulko) Yokitis, wife of Joseph E. Yokitis of South Heidelberg Township.

Other survivors include two sisters: Frances Kaminski of Allentown and Veronica Steranko of Port Carbon.

There are also five grandchildren surviving: David, husband of Christine Auman of Richmond, VA; Kenneth, husband of Andi Auman of Simsbury, CT; Michael, husband of Phuong Yokitis of Alexandria, VA; Terri, wife of Joseph Witkowski of Sinking Spring and Pamela, wife of Christopher Yocum of Annville, PA.

Josephine is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Charlotte Auman, who died in 1992 and by five siblings: Mary Greiner, Charlotte Pulli, Betty Smulkits, William Wojciechowski and Adam Wojciechowski.

A Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church, 20 St. Stephen's Church Lane, Reading, PA 19607. A viewing will be held Monday from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
