Josephine M. Deemer

Josephine M. Deemer, 84, formerly of Wyomissing, died March 29 at 2:50 a.m. in the residence of a son, Richard J. Deemer, Wyomissing.

Her husband, Bernard R. Deemer, died April 5, 1988.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Chelius) Dunn.

Deemer was employed from 1938 to 1947 as a beautician by Mr. Fred's Salon, Reading. From 1947 to 1972, she was the owner-operator of her own beauty salon in Wyomissing. Deemer was last employed for three years as a sales clerk and seamstress by Lit Brothers, Wyomissing, retiring in 1975.

She was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School and a 1938 graduate of the Bryland Institute of Beauty Culture, Reading.

Deemer was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

She is also survived by a daughter, Margaret D. (Deemer) Raymond, Bethlehem.

Other survivors include five grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to John Paul II Center For Special Learning, 1092 Welsh Road, Shillington, PA 19607.
