Josephine "Nana" Rose (Biscanti) DeAngelis, 93, of Spring Township, died July 12, 2008 in the Reading Hospital.She was the widow of Amedeo DeAngelis, Sr., who died October 2, 1968. She was born in Garfield, New Jersey on March 25, 1915. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Biscanti and Stella (Lapi) Biscanti-Ciabattoni.

Josephine and her late husband owned an Italian grocery store on Schuylkill Avenue, Reading for almost 40 years. Josephine was a lead mother at the Schuylkill & Greenwich Elementary School and was a member of Holy Rosary Church.

Nana moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1968 where she resided until April 2008. She worked for her son for almost 30 years at Amedeo's Italian Restaurant, in Raleigh, and was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral.

She was a member of the Western Lanes Bowling League, Raleigh, where she received a life time good sportsmanship award.Nana excelled at knitting, crocheting and cooking, and generously gave these handmade gifts filled with her love to family and friends.

She is survived by four children: Amedeo Jr., widower of Elizabeth J. (Nemmers) DeAngelis of Raleigh; Stella J. (DeAngelis) wife of Glenn A. Paul, with whom she last resided; Sandra L. (DeAngelis) wife of Robert L. Peace of Raleigh and Louis J. husband of Beverly J. (Allen) DeAngelis of Raleigh.

Other survivors include brother, Orlando husband of Helen Ciabattoni of Santa Barbara, Calif. and sister, Concetta (Ciabattoni) Camilli of Laureldale.

There are also eleven grandchildren: Jan, Jill, Rick, John, Stephanie, Kristin, Shelley, Nicole, Rob, Gina and Joey; and

twenty-seven great grandchildren.

She is also survived by many other family members in America and Italy.

Josephine was predeceased by eight siblings: Anthony, Mary, Annie, Frank, Joseph, John, Vince and Lucia.

Nana actively embraced the ministry of non-discriminatory encouragement and love. The vast number of people she touched is known to them and her heavenly Father.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. A Memorial Mass in Raleigh, North Carolina will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
