Josephine Anna Swist

Josephine Anna "Josie" Swist, 84, formerly of 524 Oley St., Wyomissing, passed away November 1, 2014 in Berks Heim.

Her husband of 55 years, Edward John Swist, died September 17, 2003.

Born March 15, 1930 in Reading she was a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Anna K. (Zondlo) Nowinski.

Josie enjoyed reading, baking, family vacations at the shore and Friday night ice cream parties with her girls.

She was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading.

Josie is survived by her daughter, Suzanne M. (Swist) Bortz, companion of Terry Cieri, Wyomissing. Also surviving are her sister, Dolores, wife of Stanley Gensemer, Muhlenberg Township; her granddaughter, Traci Williams; and her great-granddaughters: Angela Williams and Starlene Williams.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Edward M. Bortz, and her sister, Martha Kramer.

Josie's family would like to thank the staff at Berks Heim for treating Josie with kindness, respect, and dignity during her stay there. They would also like to give a special thank you to Rev. Kerry and Rev. Clark for meeting Josie's spiritual needs and always bringing a smile to her face.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in St. Mary's R.C. Cemetery.
