Josephine A. Chelius

Josephine A. "Aunt Jo" Chelius, 89, of The Highlands at Wyomissing, died September 19, 2011 in the Reading Hospital.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Leo N. and Mary L. (Kerr) Chelius.

She was a graduate of St. Peter's Catholic High School in 1940.

Josephine was an office manager for HH Bealler Company, retiring in 1988.

She was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle, Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.

A volunteer for Berks Heim, ManorCare, Sinking Spring, Mifflin Court, The Highlands, John Paul II Center and LaSalle Academy, she loved giving of her time to improve the quality of life of others. She was also past president of the Junior Catholic Women's Club, Catholic Women's Club of Berks County and the Pagoda Chapter of the National Secretary Association.

She is survived by her sister, Teresa A., wife of Charles P. Boylan, Wyomissing, 19 nieces and nephews, 47 great-nieces and nephews and 9 great–great nieces and nephews.

Josephine was predeceased by two siblings, Leo J. Chelius, Jane M. Snyder and her nephew, Mark A. Chelius.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the church; the rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: John Paul II Center for Special Learning, 1092 Welsh Road, Shillington, PA 19607 or St. John's RCC, 420 Holland Street, Shillington, PA 19607.
