Joseph T. Jastrzembski, 89, formerly of Pennside, died July 6, 2013 in Reading Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Angeline G. (Guidara) Jastrzembski whom he married October, 1949.
Born January 1, 1924 in Reading, he was a son of the late Peter and Helen (Dmochowski) Jastrzembski.
Joseph was employed as a steel worker with Carpenter Technology for 32 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army during World War II; he was a veteran of D-Day and Battle of the Bulge.
Joe loved his vegetable garden in Pennside and was well known for talking with all the neighbors and having dinner at the "Italian Club" on Saturdays after mass.
Also surviving is his son, Joseph P., husband of Diane T. Jastrzembski of Cherry Hill, NJ.
In addition, there are three granddaughters surviving: Jillian, Michele and Katie.
Joe was predeceased by his three sisters: Sophie DeVage, Steffie Guidara and Helen Bauscher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, PA 19602. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the mass in church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Church at the above address.
