Joseph Patrick Sweeney

Joseph Patrick Sweeney, 83, died November 23, 2013 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Mary R. (Reale) Sweeney, who died March 6, 2009.

Born August 26, 1930 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Margaret Sweeney.

Joe was employed 25 years as a computer programer with Progress Lighting, Philadelphia.

He was a member of St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Robeson Township, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Joe was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Latitia Penn.

Surviving are his six children: Kathleen A., wife of Alan Hunter of London, England; Joseph P., Jr., husband of Rachel (Candelori) Sweeney of Blackwood, NJ; John J., husband of Nancy (Morgan) Sweeney of Lansdale, Montgomery County; James E., husband of Kathleen A. (Mowry) Sweeney of Ottsville, Bucks County; Jeffrey S., husband of Melissah A. (Fillman) Sweeney of Phoenixville, Chester County and Margaret M., wife of John R. Burry of Birdsboro.

There are also ten grandchildren: Jeff, John, husband of Terri, Joshua, Mathew, Jessica, Florence, Zachary, Mark, Emma and Josephine and four great grandchildren: Sarah, Ryan, James and Allison.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict's R.C. Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, (Plowville), Mohnton, PA 19540. Viewings will be held Monday evening from 6-8 in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading and Tuesday morning one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Robeson Church Cemetery, Plowville.
