Joseph Harry Sickler, 74, of Wernersville, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at ProMedica Hospice, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born in West Chester, Joe was the son of the late Charles S. Sickler and the late Elsie L. (Wertz) Sickler.

Joe was the loving husband of the late Susan Q Sickler. They were married on December 27, 1969 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reading and spent 50 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his beloved children, Christine M. Sickler, of Kenner, Louisiana and Andrew J. Sickler, husband of Elizabeth A. (Huseman) Sickler, of Middletown; and his sister, Patricia (Myers) Good, of West Chester.

Joe was a 1965 graduate of West Chester Joint Senior High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1970, specializing in Industrial Arts, and a MS in Education in 1975, both from Millersville University. He worked for Reading High School as a teacher for 35 years.

Joe was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and spent many happy years at his hunting cabin in Lycoming County. This home away from home came to be known as The White House. He also was a member of the Okome Conservation Club.

Joe was very involved with local sports associations, most notably the Lebanon Valley Sportsmen Association where he mentored local youth and administered the hunters safety course. In addition to hunting, Joe enjoyed trips to Longwood Gardens and photography. He was also a Penn State Nittany Lions fan.

Joe was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wernersville.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 with visitation starting at 10:00am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lebanon Valley Sportsmen Association Youth Program or the American Cancer Society.
