Joseph S. Sarzynski, Sr., 88, of Flying Hills, went home to be with our Lord and Savior peacefully on October 19, 2017, at Reading Hospital.
His wife, Arlene T. (Boone) Sarzynski, died April 8, 1969; they were married on January 16, 1954, Joe's birthday.
Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Michael M. and Stephanie (Dymsza) Sarzynski.
Joe was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School, and the McCann School of Business in Mahanoy City.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.
Joe was employed by Dana Corp., Conrail, Branch Motor Express, and served as an independent agent for Inway, which later became Landstar-Inway, retiring in 1998.
He loved pool, golf, and horse racing; was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, and loved his family. He loved spending time with and appreciated his children's rescued animals and valued his time with his friends at Dunkin Donuts.
Joe is survived by three children: Karen M. Sandor, S. Heidelberg Twp., Lynn Ann Kinzey, Kenhorst; and Joseph S. (Susan) Sarzynski, Jr., Lower Heidelberg Twp. There are two siblings: D. Esther (John) Bushkie, Shillington; and Mary Ann (The Honorable A. Joseph) Antanavage, Strausstown, two grandchildren: Melissa Sarzynski and Andrea Lynn Kinzey; two nephews, Dan Horton and Mark Bushkie, and four nieces Beth Ann Bushkie, Alexa and Ann Antanavage, Diane Dewey Virginia Beach, VA. His former wife, Sharon M. Zdradzinski, Reading also survives him.
He was predeceased by one son, Michael T. Sarzynski, on July 8, 2007, and his daughter, Lynn Ann's twin sister, Lisa Ann, on September 13, 1963. Joe was also predeceased by his three brothers: John, Walter, and Daniel Sarzynski; and one nephew John Bushkie.
A Celebration of Joe's life will be celebrated Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 1110 Snyder Road West Lawn, PA 19609. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite animal rescue organization in Joe's name. Edward J.
