Joseph S. Barracca

Joseph S. Barracca, 81, died August 6, 2008, in Spruce Manor, West Reading.

He was married to Angelina (Tortorici) of Mohnton for 58 years.

Born January 27, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of James and Maria (Cosenza) Barracca.

Joseph was the owner of Joe Barracca Company of Ephrata. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was a 1945 graduate of Brooklyn Boys School, New York. Joseph honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1949.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Maria, wife of Dennis Sweigart, Wyomissing; JoAnn, wife of Jeffrey Novik, Mohnton; Denise Barracca, Kutztown; and Christine, wife of Andreas Sophroniou, Southington, Connecticut. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Barracca of Queens, New York. He was predeceased by a brother, James Barracca.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nicole, Tanya, Andrea, Francesca and Niko; and one great grandchild, Maya.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, West Reading. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery.
