Joseph Micali, 89, of Bern Township, passed away June 3, 2014 in Berks Heim.
Born September 29, 1924 in Reading he was the son of the late Anthony and Luigia (Foresta) Micali.
Joseph worked for Reading Railroad for over 38 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII.
Joseph was an avid sports fan and enjoyed going to sporting events and the horse track. He was a member of the West Reading Travelers, West Reading Fire Company, and the Excelsior Beneficial Association.
He is survived by his daughter, Luigina "Gina" Micali, wife of Stephen Becker, Bern Township. Also surviving are his sister, Sebastiana "Ann", widow of John Sweitzer, Laureldale; his two grandchildren: Christopher Becker and Jaclyn, wife of Matthew Barber; and his nephew, Dr. Thomas Sweitzer.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-2794.
