Joseph Matijasich

Joseph Matijasich, 87, formerly of Mohn's Hill Road, Spring Twp. died January 19, 2008 in Columbia Cottage, where he had been since November of 2004.

His wife, Mary Jean (Fick) Matijasich died October 29, 1978.

Born in Pineville, MN, he was a son of the late Anthony and Louisa (Brotena) Matijasich.

He was a postal clerk for 20 years for the United States Postal Service at Fifth and Court Streets, Reading retiring in 1987. Previously, he worked for Reading Chain and Cable for a number of years.

Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann M. wife of Gregg S. Thornton, Sinking Spring; and his son, Joseph P. Matijasich in Florida. Four grandchildren, John S. Thornton, Shawn M. Thornton, Richard J. Matijasich and Thomas P. Matijasich; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
