Joseph Leo Jurgielewicz, Sr., 90, of Tilden Township died at home on November 7, 2016. Joe was born on April 11, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, and was the son of the late Bronislaw and Katarzyna (Sieja) Jurgielewicz. He graduated from Center Moriches High School in 1943, where he was a catcher on the varsity baseball team. With his wife Stefne Therese (Kurkoski) Jurgielewicz, Joe founded Joe Jurgielewicz & Son duck farm in Hamburg. He was happiest riding around the farm in his dusty pickup truck. Joe was an avid sailor - it was on the water where he first captured the attention of his beloved wife. He was a huge fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, Little League baseball and college basketball. Joe was also a keen student of history, and had a boundless curiosity and desire to learn. He loved polka music,his accordion, John Wayne, pickles and a good VO Old Fashioned. "Dzadzie" took special joy in his grandchildren, and was immensely proud of their accomplishments. Joe is survived by his wife Stefne, his children Stefne (Jurgielewicz) and her husband William Sears of Holmdel, NJ; Anne (Jurgielewicz) and her husband Thomas Bean, Esq. of Colts Neck, NJ; Dr. Joseph Jurgielewicz, Jr. and his wife Rita (Murphy) of Tilden Township, PA; Janet Anne Jurgielewicz of Colts Neck, NJ; and Dr. Lynne (Jurgielewicz) and her husband Robert Leavitt of Davidsonville, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-granddaughter: Thomas Bean, Jr., Esq. and his wife Allison (Weiser) of New Brunswick, NJ; Stephanie Bean of New York, NY; Andrew Bean of New Brunswick, NJ; Joseph Bean of Ithaca, New York; Joseph Jurgielewicz, III and his wife Christine (Loomis) and daughter Emma Anne of Tilden Township, PA; Dr. James Jurgielewicz and his wife Stephanie (Chernalis) of Tilden Township, PA ; Michael Jurgielewicz of Chicago, IL; Brian Jurgielewicz of Athens, GA; and Julia Leavitt of Davidsonville, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Road, Hamburg, PA at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 10. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
