Joseph J. Kowal

Joseph Jan Kowal, 76, formerly of Mount Penn and Wyomissing, died December 28, 2008 in the Centra State Medical Center, Freehold, New Jersey.

He was married January 13, 1968 to Aniela (Indyk) Kowal of Reading.

Born June 2, 1932 in Poland, he was a son of the late John and Patricia (Zemba) Kowal.

He was employed a number of years with Berkshire Knitting Mills, Rockwell International and Crompton and Knowles.

Joseph is survived by a son, Peter A., husband of Bari M. (Bialos) Kowal of Clarksburg, New Jersey.

Other survivors include a sister, Mary (Kowal) Sokolowski of Poland and three grandchildren: Tyler, Madison and Reese Kowal.

He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Kowal, who died November 3, 1992 and a sister, Tekla Kowal.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 am in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park. Viewings will be held Tuesday 6:00 - 7:30 pm and Wednesday 9:00 - 9:30 am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
