Joseph Frank Hayick

Joseph F. Hayick, 93, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in the care of the Heritage at Green Hills. He was the loving husband of Blanche R. (Sterling) Hayick, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.

Born in Palmerton, PA, to the late John and Anna (Polash) Hayick, Joe graduated from Palmerton High School in 1948 before enlisting in the United States Army, serving from 1948-1951 during the Korean War. As part of the 27th Wolfhound Regiment of the 25th Tropic Lightning Division, Sgt. Hayick's honorable service was recognized with the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. Joe was a member of the American Legion Post 0625 of Fleetwood and the VFW Post 6150 of Wernersville.

Joe enrolled at Albright College and graduated in 1956 with his degree in Economics. He later studied at the Newport News Technical School and the Wharton School of Finance. A member of the Albright College Varsity Club, Joe played varsity football and baseball.

He retired in 1989 from Lucent Technologies as a Production Supervisor after 31 years with the company.

He was a member of both the Clover Park A.A. of Shillington and the West Lawn Quoiting Club. An avid golfer, Joe especially loved his annual trips to Pine Needles Golf Club of Southern Pines, NC. He also enjoyed traveling to the beach and took frequent trips to Florida with his wife. He was a dedicated gardener and always maintained a vegetable plot.

Joe's memory will be treasured by his wife, Blanche, and their sons, Joel S. (Tina) of Mohnton and Scott A. (Allison) of Wernersville. Joseph was the very proud grandfather of Kayla, Alayna, Dylan, Jared, and Trey. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister, Velma, and his brothers, Charles and John Jr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory may be offered to the scholarship he established. Checks may be payable to Albright College, PO Box 15234 attention: Development Office, Reading PA 19612. Please write "Joe and Blanche Hayick Scholarship" on the memo line. Services will be private.
