Joseph S. Dragan

Joseph S. Dragan, 85, of Whitfield died at home on June 10, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

His wife, Arlene E. (Stefanowicz), died December 23, 2011.

Born in St. Clair, he was a son of the late John and Tekla (Serafin) Dragan.

Joseph was a graduate of Frackville High School in 1947, and Penn State University in 1957 earning a B.S. in Industrial Engineering.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Joseph was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church.

He was employed by Lucent as a senior engineer for 24 years, retiring in1987.

Joseph was a member and treasurer of the Whitfield Lions Club. He also was President, Treasurer and Board Member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.

He is survived by three sons, Mark S., partner of Beth Goldman, Wyomissing, David J., husband of Sandra, Green Hills and Jeffrey S., husband of Hilma, Merrick, NY; his brother, John, husband of Pauline, Richmond, VA; two sisters, Ann, widow of Vincent Costanzo, GA and Elsie, widow of Earl Rarick, Zion Grove. Three grandchildren, Alexander, James and Elizabeth also survive him.

Joseph was predeceased by his grandson, Evan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611 and Saturday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. in the church.
