Joseph A. Deesing, 89 of Tilden Township died July 18 in his home. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Sauders) Deesing. Joe was born in Mahanoy City and was the son of the late Paul and Mary (Krakuski) Deesing. Joseph proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean War. He was employed for 30 years as a steel worker for Dana Corporation and was a self- employed scrap man for many years. Joe was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Tilden Township and was a member of VFW Wagner-Good Post #216 and American Legion Post #637 both in Hamburg. In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his children; Linda Trate, Florida, Joey husband of Lee Deesing, Ringtown, Cynthia Dessing, Florida, Alesia wife of Kevin Ely, Hamburg, Tonya wife of Jeff Bylina, Windsor Castle, Michelle wife of Keith Bonafont, Hamburg and Nathan Deesing, Tilden Township, 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. A brother; John L. Deesing, Mahanoy City and sisters; Lorraine Lupcho, Tamaqua and Joan Brown, Weatherly, also survive Joe. Joseph was predeceased by children, Wanda Bowman and Jonathan Deesing and by two grandchildren, Mack Edward Deesing and Lawanda Roberts. A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. Hamburg.
