Joseph B. Casantini, 77, Cumru Township, died Jan. 3 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 25.
Born in Birdsboro, he was a son of the late Alesandro and Antonia (Fontana) Casantini.
Casantini was employed for many years as a machine operator by Reading Sheet Metal Co., retiring in 1991.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Casantini was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
He was a past treasurer of the 18th Ward Democratic Club, Reading.
Surviving is a son, Damon B., Mount Penn.
Other survivors include two brothers, Albert, Kenhorst, and Dominic, Reading; and two sisters, Emily (Casantini) Valardo, Reading, and Tina (Casantini) Nowotarski, Kenhorst.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
