Joseph M. Cammarano

Joseph M. Cammarano Sr., retired Reading businessman, died Jan. 3 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 18.

Cammarano, 79, Wyomissing Hills, was the husband of Mary T. (Burns) Cammarano.

He was the co-owner of BGR Insurance Co., Reading, from 1963 until his retirement in 1996. Cammarano was also the co-owner of Donny's Sandwich Shops, Reading.

Born in Hazleton, Luzerne County, he was a son of the late Dominic and Anna (DiScianna) Cammarano.

Cammarano was a 1945 graduate of Reading High School.

He was a past president of the Central Catholic High School Boosters.

Cammarano was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Reading, where he was a lector and eucharistic minister and church bazaar chairman.

He is also survived by two daughters, Dolores J. (Cammarano) Turley, Wyomissing, and Mary J. (Cammarano) Farrelly, Sinking Spring; and six sons: Michael J., Sinking Spring; Mauro D., Dennis J. and Dominick J., all of Wyomissing; and Joseph M. Jr., and James A., both of Reading.

Other survivors include two brothers, Peter N., and Dominic J. Jr., both of Laureldale; and a sister, Anna (Cammarano) Tomasi, Exeter Township.

There are also 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Friends may call Wedsday 5-8 PM in Kuhn Funeral Home 739 Penn Ave. West Reading. Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 1018 North 8th Street Reading, PA 19604. The Edward J.
