Joseph T. Brady, Sr.

August 16, 1931 — July 9, 2016

Joseph T. Brady, Sr.

Joseph (Joe) T. Brady Sr., 84, of Bern Township entered into a fuller life at the Reading Hospital on Saturday, July 9, 2016, —37 years and two days after suffering his first massive heart attack at the same hospital.

Born in St. Clair, PA to William and Helen (Varnus) Brady (both deceased) Joe graduated from St. Clair High School. He served in US Army during the Korean Conflict 1953–1955.

Joe married the love of his life, Lucille (Yonchuk). Joyfully they just celebrated 63 years of marriage this past June 20. He was owner/operator of Glenside Beverage (1976-1981), Joe did production and traffic management at Marco Electric, Quaker Maid Kitchens, Cabot Corp., and other locations. Joe most recently served as Organizational Secretary to Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (PSOMS) from 1993 until his retirement in 2006.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Joseph Jr., and wife Lucyann (Allentown), Jane Brady (Reading), Maryann Brady-Marks (Reading) and Linda Korpi (Reading). There are three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren and of course his faithful friend,Roxy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews that meant the world to him. Joe was predeceased by three brothers, William, Jerome, and Edward.

It was never about what Joe did, but HOW Joe did it. Wherever Joe was laughter soon followed. He was quick-witted, jovial, and fun-loving. His unparalleled enthusiasm was his cornerstone trademark and the pivotal reason he lived far beyond the doctors' expectations. Joe's loving heart, although damaged, was the strongest beacon for many and that light will still go on.

The celebration of his life will begin with a visitation on Friday, July 15, from 8:30-10:30 AM at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading followed by a Mass of Celebration at St. Margaret's Church on Centre Avenue in Reading at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the Mass the committal will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery.
