Joseph A. Orlando, Jr., 83, of Bern Twp., died May 10, 2009 under the caring, professionals at Berks Heim; he had been there for 3 1/2 years.

He was the husband of Ruth C. (Ehman) Orlando, to whom he was married for 60 years, last November 27.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Guiseppe A. and Antonina (Crisci) Orlando.

He was a glazier for Berks-Lehigh Glass, Reading, now located in Allentown for 40 years retiring in 1988; and was a member of the Glazier's Union #618, Reading.

Joseph was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific for over two years on a destroyer escort.

Joseph enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making stain glass windows.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert C., husband of Michele A. Orlando, Bern Twp. and his daughter Jo Ann, wife of James Hersom, Whitefield, ME. Four grandchildren, Gina Anderson, Jillian Orlando , Richard T. Blackwell and Joel R. Blackwell; and one great-grandson, Seth J. Anderson also survive him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made in Joseph's name to: Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601. Edward J.
