Jorge Pablo Nouhra, 85, passed away on October 29, 2021. He was the loving husband of Patricia Theresa Richard Nouhra having shared 55 wonderful years together.
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, he was the son of the late Eid and Tamem Sarquiz Nouhra, who had immigrated from Lebanon after World War I.
He earned his bachelor and master degrees in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and worked in Ecuador, Canada, and the United States. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a Professional Engineer of Canada, and a founding member of the Model Airplane Collectors Association.
An engineering job brought his family cross-country from Palo Alto, California to Wyomissing, Pennsylvania where he spent 40 years as a joyful, chatty, and active member of the community. He loved Wyomissing. He coached girls and boys club soccer for over 25 years, leaving an impression on all of us to "pay attention" and "play with a big heart". He cherished his memories of coaching his children and many others in soccer. In retirement he discovered a second career as an educator. He loved being an adjunct professor of Spanish at Alvernia, Penn State Berks, and Reading Area Community College, and finally assisting in The Yocum Library at Reading Area Community college. Above all else he loved his family and friends and maintained strong ties with his childhood friends in Ecuador.
In addition to his wife Patricia, Jorge is survived by his children: Eid, husband of Jane Rowles Nouhra, Lewes, DE; Patrick, husband of Anastassiya Lukanova Nouhra of Mallorca, Spain; and Gabrielle Nouhra of Brooklyn, NY. He was Abuelito Bigotes to Eid Alexander, Cameron Jane, Sophia Liliya, and Valentina Parker. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews and his family in Ecuador and France. He was predeceased by his brother Nabil and sister Marie.
Jorge belonged to Sacred Heart Church, West Reading.
