Jonnie "Jon" Rapp peacefully passed Tuesday July 2nd, 2024, surrounded by his entire family, watching one last Phillies baseball game together. He would have been 72 on July 5th. Born in Reading, PA in 1952 to Helen (Goodall) and Gerald "Jerry" Rapp Jr., Jonnie grew up in West Reading, graduated from Wyomissing High School and had a long career in insurance and insurance restoration.
He loved his family and his dogs (Ruka, Chloe, and Willow) above everything else. He also enjoyed the highs and lows of watching Philadelphia sports teams (especially when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII), the quiet peace of fishing with his sons, the patience and detail of building HO scale model railroads, the historical appreciation of research and reselling pottery and antiques found at thrift stores, the action and heroism of war movies and history, and the absurd hilarity of life in Monty Python and similar comedies. Often adding sarcastic and goofy humor to most conversations, Jon loved spending time with his kids the most.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Susie and her husband Joseph Sickler. He is survived by his former wife, Diane, and children: Danielle, Jason and wife Kristine, Steven, Amber, and James. He is also survived by niece, Christine Sickler, and nephew Andrew Sickler and his wife Beth, and half-brother Jeremy Rapp.
In lieu of flowers, Jonnie's family asks for donations made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) in his memory. at https://www.breakthrought1d.org/
