John Martin Yingling, Jr., 80, formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died October 7, 2013 at Spruce Manor.
Born June 21, 1933 in Altoona, he was a son of the late John Martin, Sr. and Beryl Yingling. He was one of eight children, having had seven sisters and one brother.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School and attended Penn State University.
John was employed as a retail manager with Boscov's and Grant's Department Stores, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Reading, where he served in the vestry.
John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his three children: Sandra A. (Yingling) Petti of Birdsboro; Lynn S., husband of Kathleen Adams of Exeter Township and Gail (Adams) Hanson of Arizona.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren.
John was predeceased by a step-son, Richard E. Yingling, who died April 15, 1965.
Services will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.
