John Y. Prinzinger, 96, died October 14, in Berkshire Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was the widower of Catherine G. Prinzinger who died in June 2010.
John was the son of the late George and Marian (Yanos) Prinzinger.
John was an Army Veteran where he served in the European Theater during World War II.
He owned and operated the Barber Shop in Amityville for many years and practiced his trade for over 50 years. John retired from Amity Township where he worked on the road crew.
John was a member of the Pike Township Sportsman Association, Amity Township Athletic Club, and a lifelong member of the American Legion.
He was the first Fire Chief for Amity Township Fire Company which was organized in June of 1961.
John enjoyed flying and organic gardening.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He truly loved his grandchildren.
John is survived by his four daughters: Anna Mae, wife of Kenneth Shelton, Douglassville; Mary Ellen, wife of Fred Hoffert, Douglassville; Barbara, wife of Rob Wade, Boyertown; and Patti, wife of Kenny Erjavec, Douglassville and one brother, J. Russell Prinzinger, North Richland, TX. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by three brothers: George, Frank, and Ray Prinzinger and a sister, Marie Kappenstein.
Graveside services will be on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00am at St. Paul's Cemetery, Amityville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Amity Fire Company, 47 Pine Forge Road, Douglassville, PA 19518.
