John J. Woytko

John J. "Waco" Woytko, 79, formerly of Kenhorst, passed away September 8, 2016 in his Reading residence.

He was the husband of MaryLouise A. (Ciervo) Woytko, who he celebrated 45 years of marriage before her passing March 3, 2004.

Born in Reading, Waco was the son of the late John J. Sr. and Lucetta Catherine (Shoff) Woytko.

He was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School.

Waco was a U.S. Marine reserve.

He was the leading Contemporary designer in Berks County. He was the owner and operator of Waco's Furniture for over 20 years and Wertz Sandwich Shop, West Reading for 15 years before retiring in 2004.

Waco was a diehard avid Eagles fan and was one of the founders and 1st President of the Kenhorst Trojan Youth Football program. He also enjoyed racing his 56' Chevy at the Reading Fairgrounds.

He was a smooth dancer appearing on American Bandstand and winning the 1957 State Jitter Bug championship alongside his wife.

Waco is survived by his two sons, John J. "Golden Child", husband of Karen E. Woytko, Shillington and Joseph A. "Black Sheep", husband of Beth A. Woytko, West Lawn. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Woytko; Steven, husband of Kathy Woytko; Barry Woytko, companion of Fay Young and William, husband of Cindy Woytko; grandchildren, Tanya, wife of Joshua Goretzke; Courtney Woytko, Anthony "A.J." Woytko and Caitlin Woytko; great-grandchildren, Mia Lynn Goretzke and Jayvien Goretzke.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Joan Tallerichio and George Woytko.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, and Western Berks Relay for Life, 498 Bellevue Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
