John Whitner Rick

John Whitner Rick, 84, passed away June 10, 2025, at Southeastern Veterans Center, Chester County.

He was the loving husband of Vicki B. (Bertolet) Rick. At the time of his passing, they had shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Whitner and Virginia Rose (Impink) Rick.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph University,

John was a Navy Veteran.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Jennifer (Michael) Courtemanch, Alexandria (Todd) Baker, and Elizabeth (Eddie) Hoyer; five siblings: Robert, Christopher, Rosemary, Virginia, and Louise; two grandchildren: Evelyn Hoyer, Sophia Hoyer; one step-grandson, E.J. Courtemanch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Benafel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday June 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading, Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southeastern Veterans Center, 1 Veterans Dr., Spring City, PA 19475 or Holisticare Hospice, 985 Old Eagle School Rd., Suite 504 Wayne, PA 19087.
