John J. Venezia

John Joseph Venezia, 61, of Reading, died January 26, 2011 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Fernanda Marie (Tucci) Venezia, whom he married April 6, 2010. He was the former husband of Victoria J. Venezia of Sinking Spring.

Born September 3, 1949 in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Cecelia M. (Nogaj) Venezia.

John attended Southwest Junior High School where he was president of his class. In 1967 he graduated from Reading High School. He attended Pierce Junior College of Philadelphia, and graduated from Philadelphia University of Textiles in 1972 with a BS in accounting.

He was employed as an accountant with AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Agere, Muhlenberg Township for 23 years, retiring in 2001.

John was a member of Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Reading.

He was a member of Northmont Fellowship Association, where he was also financial treasurer and Lodge Brother of Victor Emmanuel II Beneficial Society.

John loved gardening, jazz music and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Also surviving are two children: Nino J. Venezia of Indianapolis, IN and Cara J. Venezia, fianceé of Tony K. Roth of Wyomissing; three step children: Jason M. Hummel, John A. Hummel and Deanna E. Hummel, all of Reading; a sister, Judith A. Venezia of Reading; step granddaughter, Felecia N. Hummel; sister-in-law, Verlene; nephews, Michael, Gregory and Joseph and a niece Suzanne.

John was predeceased by a brother, Michael Venezia who died September 3, 2006.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, PA 19602. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
