John Peter Thomas, 93, of Muhlenberg Township, died November 30, 2014 in ManorCare Health Services, Inc., Muhlenberg Township.
He was the loving husband of Charlotte Mae (Reed) Thomas, whom he married August 27, 1952.
Born in Reading, PA on November 1, 1921, he was a son of the late Peter J. and Thalia (Demakous) Thomas.
John was a 1939 graduate of Reading High School.
He spent his entire working life in his family business, Thomas Restaurant, Reading, before retiring as the owner in 1993. He loved being in the restaurant business and could never go anywhere that he didn't know someone.
John was a member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Rajah Shrine 7th Masonic District; American Legion Post 12 of Reading and the Exeter Township Lions Club, where he was a charter member and held several officer positions.
He was involved in many charitable organizations.
John was a Army Veteran of WWII.
He attended both West Lawn United Methodist Church and Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.
John is also survived by a son, James, husband of Susan Thomas of Laureldale and a daughter, Stephanie, wife of Jeffrey Warmkessel of Oley.
Other survivors include five siblings: George P. Thomas of Pennside; William P. Thomas of Pennside; James P. Thomas of Flying Hills; Katherine Ganas of Exeter Township and Aphrodite Manning of Reading.
Called PaPou by his four loving grandchildren: Rachel M. Munoz, Rebekkah C. Wolfe, Wade T. Warmkessel and Valerie A. Warmkessel; they were his pride and joy. He went to all their school and sporting events.
He was predeceased by two siblings: Paul P. Thomas and Pauline Constan.
Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 12:00 pm in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.
Viewings will be held Friday evening 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturday morning 11:00 am until time of services in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
