John J. "Jack" Teasdale, 73, of Muhlenberg Township, PA and of Millsboro, DE died February 16 at 12:15 a.m. in ManorCare, Laureldale where he had been since January 20.
He was the husband of Ardelle L. (Clay) Jones-Teasdale. His first wife Mary Anne (Miller) Teasdale died in 1985.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John J. and Laura (Miller) Teasdale.
Teasdale was employed by Reading School District for a total of 33 years. He was first employed as a teacher in Northwest Junior High School from 1960 to 1972, teaching Mathematics. Later he was an administrator for the Reading School District for 17 years. From 1972 to 1986 he was the Vice Principal at Northwest Junior High School, he then became the Vice Principal for Southwest Junior High School from 1986 to 1989. He retired from the Reading School District as a teacher of Mathematics at the Vo-Tech School in 1993.
After his retirement he was a professor of Algebra at Reading Area Community College and a professor of Mathematics at Penn State, Berks Campus.
He was a graduate of Kutztown University with a BS in Education in 1960. In 1966 he earned his MS in Education from Temple University. He was a 1971 graduate from the University of South Carolina with a MS in Mathematics. In 1975 he graduated from Lehigh University with a Masters in Administration. He had also taught at the University of South Carolina through a Fellowship, while working on his doctorate.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Teasdale was a 32nd Degree Mason, Lodge #62 F&AM, West Reading.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Ocean View, MD, the Elks Lodge, Lewes, DE, and the American Legion Post #28, Millsboro, DE. He was a member of the Indian River Yacht Club in Delaware and served as Commodore in 2001-2002.
Other survivors include three sons, Peter, Jonestown, PA, Thomas, Mohnton and John, Reading. There is also one step-son Craig Jones, Blythewood, South Carolina and 2 step-daughters, Vickie Jones, NY, NY and Kelly (Jones) Lountzis, Sinking Spring. Three grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren also survive him.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions may be made American Cancer Society 498 Bellevue Avenue Reading, PA 19605.
