John George Spang

A life well and truly lived came to a peaceful end on the 3rd of August 2023 with the passing of John G. Spang (1944-2023).

John was born and raised in West Reading. After spending fifty years stewarding a homestead and forest in southern Belize, John returned to Berks County in 2019.

John is survived by Tanya Russ, his wife of 43 years, and their daughter, Lyra, of Belize, and son, Nathaniel (Christine) of Oregon, as well as his nephews: Andy Boyd, Pete Boyd, and Mike Matz.

John was a dedicated owner and steward of forests and farms in Toledo District, Belize, and Great Bend Organic Farm near Port Clinton, PA.

John filled his life with worthy challenges and adventures, affectionate and enduring friendships, and a loving family. He had many interests and could hold his own discussing a wide range of topics.

He will be greatly missed by friends and family near and far.

An event to celebrate John's life will be held at a future date at the convenience of his family.
