John E. Smolnik

John E. Smolnik, 76, of Sinking Spring, passed away September 3, 2009 in Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Rose (Di Dino) Smolnik.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John G. and Mary (Soltysik) Smolnik.

He was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School.

John was employed for 30 years as an Enviromential Engineer for Gilbert Associates, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John A., husband of Debbie Smolnik, Wernersville and his daughter, Sandra, wife of Jeffrey Trewella, Kennett Square; a sister, Geraldine, wife of James Bright, Manheim, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Kelly Jordan, Heather Smolnik, Mark Trewella and Jase Smolnik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
