John J. Seghetti, 93, of Shillington, died April 25 at 7:35 a.m. in ManorCare, Sinking Spring where he had been since April 22.
His wife Edith I. (Rutolo) Seghetti died on July 30, 2000.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Luigi and Giulia (Bachetti) Seghetti.
He was first employed by Reading Maid Knitting Mills, then B and B Hosiery, Fritztown and later by Kauffman Hosiery Mills, Oley. He then became the co-owner of Edith and Johnny's Cafe, Reading from 1954 to 1960. From 1960 to 1983 he was the owner of Johnny's Cafe, Shillington.
Seghetti was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and participating in D-Day.
Seghetti was a lifetime member of Goodwill Beneficial Association, Hyde Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Rita (Seghetti) Ditsky, Wyomissing and Nancey L. Seghetti, Robesonia. There are also 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. Contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease, Michael J.
