John P. Schreffler

John P. Schreffler, 68, of Wyomissing, died July 25, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Marcia (Ireland) Schreffler.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Herbert and Ruth (Impink) Schreffler.

He was a 1962 graduate of West Reading High School and a 1970 graduate of Albright College.

Mr. Schreffler was well known within the business community. He worked as a CPA for Beard & Company, R.W. Eaken, Inc., Reinsel & Company, and retired in 2008 from Walnut Street Associates.

He was active in many local organizations. He was a board member of Berks County Chamber of Commerce; a foundation board member, board chair and a member of the finance committee of St. Joseph Medical Center; a board member of the Caron Foundation; past president of the Berkshire County Club; the treasurer of Maidencreek Fish and Game Club; and a member of the Washington Library Company.

He was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966 as Staff Sergeant.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children: Dr. Michael J. Schreffler, Richmond, VA; Andrew J., husband of Kelly Schreffler, Sinking Spring; and Brynne E., wife of Chad A. Alban, Sinking Spring. Also surviving is his brother, Herbert H., Jr., husband of Norma Jean Schreffler, Flint MI. He will be dearly missed by his four grandchildren whom he loved spending time with: Andrew J. Schreffler, Jr., Penelope A. Schreffler, Benjamin Alban, and Carson Alban.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. There will be no visitation before Mass. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 316, Reading, PA 19603; Caron Treatment Centers Endowment Fund, Attn: Development Office, P.O.
