John Roswell Miller went home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2025.
He was the son of John A. and Mary E. Miller. John graduated from Reading High School in 1947 and proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War. Major Miller served with distinction, commanding a combat airborne company as well as two construction companies in the Army Corps of Engineers. Known throughout his life as a hardworking, disciplined man, John took deep pride in building and creating with his hands.
Much of John's life was defined by work and responsibility. In his later years, he became more present and involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, building relationships that grew deeper with time. He is survived by his two sons, John and Warren, and his two daughters, Natasha, wife of Charles Gueffroy, and Mary, wife of Mark Knight. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren.
One of John's greatest sources of pride was the building of Bull Run Castle in Northern Virginia. Working side by side with his children, he poured his skill, determination, and vision into the project. The castle, which became a bed and breakfast and antique shop, stands as a lasting testament to his work ethic, craftsmanship, and the bonds he built with his family. John was a member of Berks Bible Church in Shillington, Pennsylvania.
The funeral services for John will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA 19611, with burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Family and friends may gather from 9 a.m. until the beginning of the service. Edward J.
