John R. "J.P." Parenti

John R. "J.P." Parenti, 78, of Mohnton, passed away January 26, 2021, at the Reading Hospital.

He was the loving husband of 42 years to Diane M. (Savitsky) Parenti.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Dominic and Lena (Disco) Parenti.

John was a 1960 graduate of Reading High School.

John served our nation proudly and valiantly in the US Army.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

John was employed by Carpenter Technology in the melting department and scrapyard, retiring in 2001. After retirement he worked for Piazza Honda in the parts department.

John was a diehard Reading High School basketball fan.

He was a member of the Squires Club, Malamente Club and the Skyline Drive Corvette Club. John was also a great storyteller and an avid Atlanta Braves and Indianapolis Colts fan.

In his early years he enjoyed drag racing at Maple Grove earning the top 10 class champion in 1962. He also loved raising homing pigeons, horse racing, going to the casino's, traveling to Italy and Sicily and vacationing on many cruises.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four siblings: Edward, husband of Wilma Parenti, Domenic, husband of Pamela Parenti, Carol, wife of Billy Thomason and Donna, wife of Tony Lubas and nine nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 25, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 237 Franklin St, Reading, PA 19602. Friends may call Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Rosary R.C.
