John R. Prestash

John Robert Prestash, 81, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family in his Lower Alsace Township home. He was the husband of Halina Marie (Rutkiewicz) Prestash, whom he married May 30, 1953. Born in Evansville, Berks County on July 2, 1928, he was a son of the late Alex and Valeria (Baran) Prestash. He was a member of St. Catharine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township. John was employed 47 years as a machinist with Continental Can Corporation, Reading, retiring in 1991. He is also survived by three children: Steven R. Prestash of Leadville, CO.; Yvonne M. (Prestash) Lis of Lower Alsace Township and Michael A. Prestash of Lower Alsace Township. Other survivors include four grandchildren: Susan (Lis), wife of Brian Schucker; Amanda Prestash; Melissa Prestash and David Prestash. There are also seven great grandchildren surviving. He was predeceased by two brothers: Stephen and Peter. Services and burial will be private.
