John G. Oros, Jr., 78, of Mohnton, passed away September 14, 2012 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Pauline A. (Nigrelli) Oros.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John G. Oros, Sr. and Maria (Hajduk) Oros.
He attended Reading Catholic High School and continued his education in the US Army, where he earned his G.E.D. While in the Army, he was a drummer in the General's Band.
John was employed as a merchandise manager with Boscov's Department Store for over 30 years, before retiring.
He was also a drummer with various bands including the "The Fabulous Jesters, in his younger years.
John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren after retirement. He also loved the outdoors while riding his four-wheeler and tractor. He also kept busy taking care of the wildlife on his property.
He was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church, Reading. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Maria, wife of Michael J. McDermott of Bernville and his son, John J. Oros of Reading.
Other survivors include four grandchildren: Courtney and Colin McDermott and Tanya and Joel Oros.
In addition, there are three siblings surviving: Helen (Oros), widow of Joseph Bruno, Margaret (Oros) Danowski and Joseph, husband of Tessie (Kohut) Oros.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Cyril and Methodist R.C. Church, 449 S Sixth St., Reading. A visitation will be Monday 6-8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
