John J. Munley

John J. Munley, 75, of North 25th Street, Mount Penn, died Jan. 24 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

Born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Festus and Bridget (Mullarkey) Munley.

Munley had been employed for 25 years by the State of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1989 as director of the unemployment office in Reading.

He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mount Penn.

Munley was a graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School.

He was a Navy veteran.

Munley was a life member of the Mount Penn Lions Club.

He is survived by a nephew and three nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, Mount Penn. Private burial will be in Annunciation Church Cemetery, Shenandoah. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
