John Morgan Nees

John Morgan Nees, Sr., 91, of Wyomissing, passed away August 23, 2015 at the Mifflin Center.

He was the loving husband of Christine (Costello) Nees for 65 years.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Chalmer C. and Belle (Morgan) Nees.

He was a 1946 graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering and was associated with the lead storage battery industry.

During WWII, he served in Europe with the 78th Division as a combat engineer.

John was employed as the Director of Engineering for Daniell Battery Company, Baton Rouge, LA, from 1982 – 1987. He also was a former Vice President of General Battery Corporation, Reading from 1974 – 1982 and Battery Product Manager for NL Industries, NY, NY for 24 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Mary O., wife of Gary D. Wolfe, Wyomissing, John M. Nees, Jr., San Francisco, CA and Robert M., husband of Katharine D. Nees, Dallas, TX; and four grandchildren: Mary E. Wolfe, Michael O. Wolfe, Gregory W. Nees and Thomas M. Nees.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery. At the request of the family John's service will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com
