John T. Miller, 81, of Lahoma Lane, Greenfields, Bern Township, formerly of Church Street, died Dec. 22 at 2:41 a.m. in his residence.
He was the husband of Mary F. (Bochenek) Miller.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Samuel P. and Cora (Blankenbiller) Miller.
Miller had been employed for 31 years by Metropolitan Edison Co., Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, Reading, where he was an usher.
Miller was a 1941 graduate of St. Peters High School.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, and a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society.
Miller was past president of the Berks County Parochial Football League, where he also coached the Crusaders for many years.
He additionally coached St. Margaret's baseball team for many years.
Miller was the head coach of Russo's class C city league baseball team from 1963 to 1967, leading them to several city league championships.
He was a life member of the Holy Name Society of Berks County.
Miller was a life member of Reber-Moore Post 6035, American Legion, Shillington, and the Hunter-Liggett Post 38, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reading.
He is also survived by a daughter, Marcia M. Miller, Exeter Township; and three sons, Terry F. and Michael J., both of Reading, and John T. Jr., Philadelphia.
There are also six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
