John F. "Jack" McGlinn, Jr., 86, of Naples, FL., died November 30, 2016, at The Highlands at Wyomissing.
He was the husband of Ann K. (Magers) McGlinn. They were married for 61 years.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John F., Sr, and Elizabeth (Ganly) McGlinn.
He was a 1948 graduate of Central Catholic High School and The University of Notre Dame in 1952.
Jack was a U.S. Army Finance Corp veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre during the Korean Conflict.
He was the owner-operator of McGlinn Photo Service for 20 years; Bachman Foods as the head of national sales for seven years; and McGlinn Capital Management for 10 years before his retirement.
Jack was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, PA and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Naples, FL.
Jack was a past president and treasurer for the Antietam Lions Club and Berkshire Country Club, and also served as president for D.A.R.E. and treasurer for the Antietam Recreation Center. He was a Notre Dame cheerleader and a member of their Monogram Club, a member of the Reading Chamber of Commerce, and the Pelican Marsh Golf Club of Naples.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, and Pop-Pop, as well as an avid golfer through his 85th year. He was well known for his jokes and story-telling and was a loyal Notre Dame and Philadelphia Phillies fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by six children: Michael J. McGlinn (Donna), Greenfields; Katharine A. Reynolds (Rick), Marietta, GA; Susan L. Mueller (Jack), Park City, UT; Dorothy McGlinn Imbody (Keith), Mohnton; Ann E. McGlinn-Work (Gene),Woodland Hills, CA; and John F. "Jack" McGlinn, III (Lisa), Chapel Hill, NC. There are thirteen grandchildren: Meghan, Elizabeth, Matthew, Doug, Jimmy, Jackson, Carly, Andie, Brett, Sean, John, Ryan, and Dylan and two great grandchildren: Jake and Finley.
There are two siblings, Terrence J. (Barbara), State Hill, and Elizabeth A. McGlinn-Strobel, Whitfield. He was predeceased by his brother, James McGlinn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 5, 2016, at 10 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at the McGlinn Mausoleum at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading.
